2026 ACDS Scholarship Program Recap

The Alameda County Dental Society is proud to recognize the recipients of the 2026 ACDS Scholarship Program, an initiative designed to support the next generation of dentists and strengthen the future of our profession.

This year, we received 26 applications from dental students across Bay Area programs. The strength of the applicant pool made for a highly competitive review process, reflecting both the talent and commitment of students preparing to enter the profession.

Applications were reviewed by a five-member volunteer committee—Dr. Sonal Anand, Dr. Ashley Cheng, Dr. Rebecca Hsieh, Dr. Huong Le, and Dr. Raion Sabo—whose thoughtful evaluation ensured a fair and thorough selection process.

Scholarship Recipients

We are pleased to announce the 2026 scholarship recipients:

Harkamal Pannu, University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry

Dylan Holder, University of California, San Francisco

Harkamal Pannu

Harkamal’s application reflected a strong commitment to patient-centered care and public health integration. With a background in public health, he emphasized the importance of addressing social determinants of health and expanding access to preventive care—particularly for underserved and immigrant communities.

His vision of dentistry extends beyond clinical excellence to include education, collaboration, and community-based care, aligning closely with ACDS’s mission to serve both members and the public.

Dylan Holder

Dylan stood out for his demonstrated leadership in organized dentistry, advocacy, and community outreach. Through his work with ASDA and multiple outreach programs, he has led oral health education and screening efforts throughout the Bay Area, with a particular focus on underserved populations and children.

His commitment to mentorship, policy engagement, and long-term involvement in organized dentistry reflects a clear dedication to strengthening the profession beyond individual practice.

Looking Ahead

Both recipients represent the future of dentistry in the Bay Area—clinicians who are not only committed to high-quality patient care, but also to leadership, service, and community impact.

We are grateful to all applicants for the time, care, and thoughtfulness they brought to this year’s process, and to our volunteer reviewers for their leadership in making this program possible.

ACDS looks forward to recognizing our scholarship recipients at an upcoming General Member Meeting and continuing to build pathways that connect students with the broader dental community.
